| Welcome to Play and Learn Preschool Director of Preschool/Lead Teacher: I have my bachelors of arts in Early Childhood Education from Arizona State University. I offer dependable and high quality early childhood education at a price you can afford. I am cpr and first aid certified. I have references available for you to call. I have been teaching preschool for over 9 years. I believe children learn through play, that play is a motivation factor for learning, and that an adult's help and participation is necessary for learning to progress. Philosophy of Early Childhood Education: As a preschool teacher, my goal is to provide a safe and happy place for children where they can learn and grow physically, emotionally, intellectually, and socially at their own pace. I believe children learn through play and benefit from a structured yet flexible schedule. Activities will be offered which stimulate sensory motor development, cognitive development, language development, and social interaction. The developent of strong self-esteem is also a major goal. Children will be taugh to respect each other, adults and property. My Preschool Program Includes: Learning Centers: Well planned centers that allow for child choice and self-directed play. The development of language, mathematical reasoning, and scientific though is emphasized throughout all the centers. We study what the children are interested in and do themese that are child selected. Typical centers include: dramatic play, art, blocks, manipulatives, cooking, music, computer, and outdoor play. Activities: They are involved with activities such as: dramatic play and dressing up, block building, sand and water play, painting and music, finger-paints, play dough, and bubbles, numbers, abc's tracing and writing. Social Skills: Three's and Four's work on social skills such as sharing, verbalizing their feelings, and being part of a group. Uninterrupted Time: I provide large amounts of uninterrupted time for them to persist at self-chosen tasks and activities and to practice and perfect their newly developed physical skills if they choose. I also provide many opportunities for 3's and 4's to play by themselves, next to another child (parallel play), or whith one or two other kids. Language: I encourage children's developing language by speaking clearly and frequently to individual children and listening to their responses. I patiently answer your child's questions (Why? & How Come?) and understand that they ask questions they know the answers to in order to open a discussion or practice giving answers themselves. I help children with their rapidly acquired language, experimenting with verbal sounds, and beginning to use language to solve problems and learn concepts. What Preschoolers Learn: In my program children will learn by actively constructing their own knowledge through interacting with materials, peers, and adults. They will begin to discover: The written word, creative representation, counting and math skills, and negotiation of social problems. At Play and Learn they will learn at their own pace and style, make choices, take responsibility, and develop feelings of ownership. |
